Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why do we need to exercise?

To reverse the age realted loss of muscle, gaining back strength, balance and confidendce so we can live in the comforts of our own home for as long as possible. We start losing muscle after the age of 29.

Does it have to be hard and vigorous?

Not at all even the gentlest of movement has great benefits and all adds up! Start slow and take it from there moving feels great!

Why do we put on weight when we get older ?

As we age we lose valuble muscle mass that not only made it easier to move  but burned up lots of calories. One pound of muscle  typically burns 50-100  calories a day,and by the age of 70 we have lost an average of 30lbs of muscle  mass. Its very simple math. The great thing is that is completely reversable !!!

Am I too old to exercise?

You are never to old to get moving and start an exercise routine, a 92 year old  lady gained back 118% of her body strength in only 8 weeks!! Imagine how that  changed  her quality of life?

I dont want to put on big muscles.

As women we dont produce enough testosterone or comsume enough protien to "bulk" up. Muscle  burns lots of calories, improves balance and makes us stronger! In return daily functual activities become easier and we are left with more energy to do fun activities we may have given up on, or take up new one.

What equipment do I need?

You can do exercises using only your own body for resistance, from squats, wall or floor push ups to planks (on the floor or against the wall) at any age it feels good to move!

How many should I do?

Start with about 5 or 6 work your way up to a set of 10 -12. You then could do a second set only if it feels ok and do them slow and controlled.

How often do I need to exercise?

I have seen great improvements with as little as once a week, and one set of 10 repetitions!
